My family is really fond of Mexican food, especially Mexican rice, salads, nachos, and crunchy tacos. Though we don't make Mexican cuisine that much at our home but veg Mexican tacos are always our choices when we go for dinner out.

In spite of dinner outs, it's always demanded by my daughter to have homemade Mexican tacos because she is a lover of homemade food. You may be asked for the same but don't panic if it is so. Today, I will tell you how to make the perfect taco shells at home in an easy and quick way without using any mold.

  • Maize Flour (Makai ka atta)-1cup
  • All-purpose flour (maida)-1/2 cup
  • Baking soda-1/4 teaspoon
  • Oil-1 tablespoon
  • Carom seed (Ajwain)- 1 teaspoon
  • Salt- 1/2 teaspoon
  • Lukewarm water- 1/2 cup

Take a big vessel for dough kneading. Add Maize flour, all-purpose flour, baking soda, salt, and oil into it.

Take the carom seed and crush by rubbing them between your palm and put in the flour mix.

Take lukewarm water and add to the flour gradually to make a soft dough.

Once the dough is kneaded cover it with a wet cloth and keep it aside for 5-10 minutes.

Dust the rolling board with all-purpose flour and make big thin tortillas with the help of a rolling pin. 

Note: To avoid sticking of tortillas it's good to dust dry flour over the board at intervals

Cut the big tortilla in a small (poori size) round shape with any round cutter. Here I'm using a sharp corner saucer for cutting.

Heat oil in a deep kadhai/or pan on medium heat, drop the prepared tortillas, and fry it.

Take a kitchen towel and tissue placed over it. Take out the fried tortilla on a tissue.
